Over the past week we have seen more indicators that the housing market is battling with a storm of issues, from rising interest rates, yes the RBA will have to hike further, higher inflation, which is causing the RBA to move, and higher bond yields signifying higher borrowing costs for households, businesses and the government. And the recent statement from the FED Chair at Jackson Hole reinforces the potential for US rates to go higher too, as I discussed yesterday, with perhaps 2 hikes in the wind in the US too, worth noting considering the US$ is the default backstop currency.
