Australia is one of the world’s biggest LNG exporters, but according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), east coast gas supplies could fall well short of demand from 2028, “despite there being sufficient reserves and resources for at least the next decade”. And Australians are exposed to the full international price of gas, which has lifted energy costs significantly.
